My Little Vintage Black Dress | Lady V

Happy Friday to you!  It's the end of another working week and time for you to put those tired feet to rest as you descend upon your sofa with a nice cup of tea (or some fizzy juice, like this delicious glass of prosecco I'm currently devouring).  Today's post is one slightly different to my usual styling, I've dipped my toe into the vintage trend and taken some fancy photos...

I've never been into the ditsy floral prints, as beautiful they are they just don't fit my sense or style or suite my body shape - being larger busted and with a bigger tummy I tried to stick to larger prints as they flatter more.  That being said, I was all for being pushed out of my comfort zone so when we were sent a 'mystery dress' from Lady Vintage each in our size I was curious to see what would be arriving in my post box.
I was sent the Lyra dress* in black and I feel in love with the fit and vintage hints.  It's not something I would have automatically associated with vintage but that's what I love about it - the cross over bust, waterfall-esque sleeves and 1950's skirt is simple and stylish!

I mean, look at that saucy cleave plunge! It's so cheeky!
The dress is a dream to wear and fits beautifully, if you're top heavy like myself then be assured there is more than enough boob room in this dress (and no accidental flashing occurred during the shoot either!).  The dress was quite generous and with hindsight I could have sized down a size or two, but this is easily adjusted with the wrap top.

I decided to keep the outfit simple with some flat leopard print pointed shoes, a statement necklace and a full on girly rose in my hair (because, that's vintage, innit).  This outfit just appealed to every part of me - it was a base colour I could dress up or down if I wanted to, it would be great for work, it would be great for all seasons and it was such a great quality of fabric.  I can't gush about this dress enough, it was beautiful.

The girls went full on fancy with floral prints and bows, but I was more than chuffed in my little black dress eating a cupcake!  If you want to check out what the ladies thought of their mystery dress than head on over to their blogs to have a looksie (links below) - Instagram was choca-bloc with our outfit shoot that weekend!

If you want to check out the Lyra dress then please do, it comes in many colours and sizes right up to a 32!  Marvellous!
