Check You Out

I've said before that I was late to the game with Yours Clothing, only really shopping there after seeing the clothes on other bloggers and only visiting when a store came to my local shopping centre.  Having bought my first couple of items and loved them, I'm now a convert and totally admire their price points for their on trend items.  My most recent purchases included this red tartan check shirt and the long leg indigo skinny jeans.

I decided to buy the shirt in the next size up to get a slightly oversized feel and also to ensure it draped over my bust without any gaping holes.  As it happened, I chose to wear it with a camisole underneath anyway so kept the shirt open for a more casual look.  If I wanted to dress this up I'd button the shirt up to the neck and team it with a boyfriend blazer, skinny black jeans and heels - a great alternative to the swing dress with boots for a night out!
The material is a slightly thicker cotton so it was perfect for those slightly warmer winter days, but has been perfect under a leather jacket to layer up for when the wind picks up.  I teamed the shirt with a dainty purple tint necklace and some pointed flats to give it a more feminine feel, which is my personal style preference.

Jeans are always difficult for me, having been blessed with longer legs and a flat bum (cheers mum) I struggle to find a great fit.  When I was chatting with Charlotte from the brand at Plus North this year about whether Yours will be bringing a taller range any time soon she recommended checking out these skinny jeans, so I was keen to give them a go.  For me personally, they're a great fit on the legs but are slightly baggy on the crotch area in comparison to the slim fit on the leg.  I did have to size up in these as my regular size just wasn't going to pull together and button up which I think did compromise the fit slightly.  I think the jeans could probably benefit from being made from a material with slightly more stretch to avoid this but they're still a much better fit than some plus size jeans on the market!

Blog photo session aside, we headed into Birmingham to pick up some presents to send off to Santa (gotta beat that Christmas post rush you know!) and to try out Five Guys after hearing you guys rave about it so much.  The outfit kept me warm throughout the day and I felt super chic tucking into my double burger with lettuce and onions...

What do you think of the checked shirt trend? Do you want more plus size tall items on the market?
