Lace Loves: Claire Richards S/S Review

A while back, I was kindly asked by the gorgeous people over at Fashion World whether I would like to review some items from the new line by Claire Richards.  I'd loved Claire's first season (A/W '13) with the brand so I was eager to see what was on offer in the summer from the line.
After perusing the site, eager to check out what was on offer, I found myself pleasantly surprised.  I'd expected items with a bit of a 'bang' (like her previous season, that sequin dress!) but was instead met with feminine, pretty clothes. The Spring/Summer line is full of fresh colours, classic fabrics and prints with classic silhouettes.  It's garden party meets cocktail party!

One of the items I chose was this lace trim print dress.  It's not something I would usually go for, but I loved the vintage undertones of it and imagined myself frolicking on fields in the summer, eating far too much in the picnic basket and enjoying a dizzy head from pink champagne.  Yes, I'm a dreamer chaps, what's new?
So I pushed my style barriers and threw it on!

I loved the fit of the dress, it was fantastic for my shape and hugged to my curves.
I loved the capped sleeves on the dress, being a little more self conscious of them than most parts of my body it was great to be able to wear this without feeling like I needed to throw on a jacket or bolero to cover up.
The dress was a little tight on the bust, but I changed my bra and unhooked the lace camisole underneath which gave them ample room. It was a perfect length for me, which I find so hard to get, sitting just above my knee.  The fabric belt is a little too small also, I could only just hook it into the first loop, but it's detachable from the dress so this easily sorted.  The print is much more impressive when you have it then online, the pictures really don't do it justice. The colour block at the bottom of the skirt is one of the favourite parts of the dress, ensuring this isn't just another ditsy print dress on the high street.
I ordered my regular size 22 in this and found it to be true to size, I'd suggest perhaps sizing up if you have boobs larger than a J cup though.  The shoes are also from the line but I'll be reviewing these in my next post!

In short, I ended up liking this dress a whole lot more than I thought I would have - it's something I would never have picked up, but that just proves you really should push out of your comfort zone more often!

Stay tuned for another review from the line soon!

Big thank you to Fashion World for the items gifted.
