It's a Nice Day for a White Wedding

Last night I had the pleasure of attending a friend and colleague's wedding reception.  I'd picked out my dress a long time ago, but it was a little high on my price point in a tough financial month so I decided not to splurge and just go with something already in my wardrobe.  Luckily, one of my best friends suggested a clothes swap a while back and this dress was actually sitting in her pile - how lucky is that?!

I decided to go strapless for the night and bare my shoulders, being a larger breasted girl I've always found it impossible to find a good, sturdy strapless bra so I just took my trusty Panache bra and rolled down the straps.  The dress is quite structured in the chest area so it gave me more than enough support and coverage.
The dress itself feels very airy and light, I loved twirling around in it and, other than looking like a bit of a pleb, felt extremely girly!  The print is amazing, really vibrant, with the sweetheart neckline being embellished.  It was that pretty I decided not to wear a necklace and draw attention away from the dress, simply adding earrings and a block coloured clutch.  For make up, I chose to team dark eyeliner lines with bright bottom lids - making my chocolate brown's pop.
How amazing are these Primark earrings? I love the vintage feel and the cute pastel colours! At only £3 they're definitely a bargain.

Later on in the evening I popped on my salmon pink cardigan for some warmth.

So that's my wedding reception look - a dressed up maxi dress, big make-up and simple accessories. I kept true to size with this (mainly because it was someone else's!) and I found it to be a great fit, but I think someone with a smaller chest may find this too roomy in the chest area of the dress. What do you like to wear to a formal occasion?
